Xiaomi is advancing its smartphone battery technology by developing a 7,500 mAh battery with 100W charging. This marks a shift from the brand’s previous focus on ultra-fast charging rates, such as its earlier 200W charging capability. Instead, Xiaomi is now prioritizing battery capacity to offer longer-lasting power in its future devices.
According to reports from Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is experimenting with several combinations at its R&D center in Nanjing Science and Technology Park. These include a 7,000 mAh battery with 120W charging and a 6,500 mAh battery with 100W charging, among others.
This move aligns with a broader trend in the industry, with other brands like Honor, vivo, and OnePlus also favoring larger batteries over rapid charging speeds. For instance, the vivo X Fold3 features a 5,500 mAh battery with 80W charging, while the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro offers a 6,100 mAh battery with 100W charging.
Battery Capacity | Charging Rate | Full Charge Time |
---|---|---|
5,000 mAh | 120W | 18 minutes |
5,500 mAh | 100W | 34 minutes |
6,000 mAh | 120W | 30 minutes |
6,500 mAh | 100W | 49 minutes |
7,000 mAh | 120W | 40 minutes |
7,500 mAh | 100W | 63 minutes |
As Xiaomi continues to refine its battery technology, the smartphone world eagerly anticipates which device will first showcase this innovation. This development promises to enhance the user experience, providing longer battery life without compromising on charging efficiency.
