The Vivo V40 and V40 Pro have officially launched, introducing significant battery enhancements while maintaining their ultra-thin profiles. Both models boast impressive 5,500 mAh batteries, the largest in the Vivo V series to date, ensuring long-lasting performance.
The Vivo V40 inherits the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a continuation from the Vivo V30, while the Vivo V40 Pro upgrades to the powerful Dimensity 9200+ chip, a major improvement over the previous Dimensity 8200. This upgrade significantly enhances performance and efficiency.
Both the V40 and V40 Pro share the same dimensions (164.2 x 74.9 x 7.58 mm) and display a 6.78” AMOLED screen with a high 120 Hz refresh rate and 2,800 x 1,260 pixels resolution. The display now reaches up to 4,500 nits peak brightness, a notable upgrade from the previous V30 series. A single 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 camera is housed in a punch hole.
The Vivo V40 Pro features a versatile camera setup on the back, including a 50 MP main sensor with Sony IMX921, a 50 MP telephoto portrait lens with Sony IMX816, and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera with an unnamed sensor. In contrast, the Vivo V40 includes a simpler dual-camera setup: a 50 MP main and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, both with OIS and AI Aura Light Portrait enabled by a ring LED flash.
Both models run on Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14, and promise a “50-month smooth experience” with extensive software support. The batteries are designed to last for 1,600 full charge cycles, maintaining at least 80% of their original capacity.
The Vivo V40 and Vivo V40 Pro are available in India, with prices starting at INR 39,999 ($480/€440) for the V40 and INR 54,999 ($655/€600) for the V40 Pro. The devices are offered in Meteor Blue, Moonlight White, and Stellar Silver, with additional colors for the V40 including Nebula Purple and Sunglow Peach.
