Google is set to expand its Pixel lineup with the upcoming Pixel 9a, offering a glimpse of what to expect with exclusive 5K renders revealed ahead of its launch. The Pixel 9a is expected to debut in Spring 2025, possibly during the Google I/O event. With the Pixel 9 series just launched a month ago, the Pixel 9a promises to deliver an affordable yet powerful alternative for under $500.
One major design change in the Pixel 9a is the camera bar, which is almost flush with the back, resembling the LG V60 ThinQ. The device maintains an ultrawide and wide camera setup, similar to the flagship Pixel 9. However, large bezels on the front display are noticeable—expected in budget-friendly models.
The Pixel 9a will stand out by launching with Android 15, which is anticipated to roll out in mid-October 2024. As with the previous models, it will come with seven years of updates, ensuring longevity for users. Powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, the Pixel 9a marks the final model with Samsung’s processor, as future Pixel devices are set to feature Google-designed processors made by TSMC.
Expected specs include a 6.1-inch display, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of storage, with a slightly larger battery than the Pixel 8a’s 4492mAh. As per rumors, the Pixel 9a is positioned to be a well-rounded device for 2025 at a competitive price.
